An official launch has been given to refreshed murals alongside an historic East Lancashire waterway.
Professional artist Gavin Renshaw has worked alongside students from The Hollins school in Hyndburn to give a new lease of life to a series of panels beside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
And the finished artwork, entitled ‘Wild roses thrives where the castles crumble’ has been inspired by the area’s history.
It features a combination of realism and abstract elements, with bright and vivid shapes and black and white historic photos interwoven along the banks.
A Super Slow Way spokesperson said: "Over the last 12 months mural artist Gavin Renshaw has worked in collaboration with students from The Hollins to refresh the original mural on this site which was painted in 2000.
"To create the design, Gavin and the students considered the rise and subsequent fall of industry along the Leeds and Liverpool canal and looked at boat liveries and brightwork associated with this key trade line."
Supporters of the colourful initiative celebrated with offerings from Pendle Pizza.
The artwork stretches alongside the William Blythe site, near the pocket park at Church.
Hyndburn MP Sara Britcliffe said: "It was great to get out in Church to admire the stunning new mural on the Leeds Liverpool Canal.
"As I walked down the towpath I was amazed by the efforts of pupils from The Hollins, Super Slow Way, and Gavin Renshaw to create a piece of artwork we can all enjoy and be proud of in years to come.
"The canal is a fantastic part of our heritage and (this) will be seen by hundreds if not thousands of people."
